About

“Antonio”

From as early as I can remember, I have been drawn to creative pursuits. But it wasn’t until my parents’ passing that I started to explore watercolor. My initial paintings were of my family. Sparked by the re-connection I felt when leafing through old photographs, I discovered a fresh glimpse as I recreated their images. Depicting a person’s character from photographs has continued to guide my artwork. When painting a portrait, I see a landscape of gesture and emotion. I strive to allow a story or feeling to emerge.

I’ve taken several workshops but am mostly self-taught. When creating a painting, I find myself at a place where the tangible meets unpredictability, and where moment meets possibility. It is a journey that moves freely between what inspires me and what I dare to try, every time I pick up my brush.
