“Sophia, Tiny Ballerina”
Sophia is my best friend’s great niece, and this painting really captures all her innocence and poise. At three years old. I darkened the background in multiple glazes, trying to achieve an old world, rich and substantial feel, to highlight her soft, youthful lines and that tender move. Adding colors to her white outfit and tights seemed to draw out the shadows just right.
