“The Meandering Pause”
I spotted this gentleman at a street fair, where he was stopped in the midst of the flurry of people and activity. His quiet and lingering pose begat the inspiration for this painting. I kept the painting largely in mid-tones, with a greater emphasis and contrast on how the light and shadows animated his face, which readily aroused my curiosity about the man’s thoughts. This is what stirs me to paint people.
