“Sarah as a Young Woman”
My grandmother had a sad and tender gaze, and her unusual beauty in her early photographs as a young woman has always enchanted me. This painting developed from a small and faded sepia photo of her. I painted her hair and facial features in delicate layers, and tried to create a vintage feel to her clothing. I have also painted her here, in her much later years.

This is one of my fav too! Your grandmother was a knockout in these days.. I like your background showing separate panels and partial painting of her companion.
