“Serving His Country”
The pride and kindness in my great-uncle’s eyes prompted me to paint his portrait from his Navy photograph. He was a physician and was serving his commission during the Second World War. I utilized a warm orange/golden mix in the background to complement all of the blues of his uniform. In this painting, I strove to capture his gentle and generous nature, and the great sense of duty common to all of our military.

Thanks, Sherry. I really enjoyed making this painting. His eyes just seemed to sparkle.
