“Where the Heart Dwells”

I have many, many old sepia family photographs; mostly of family members I knew and loved, like parents, grandparents, cousins, great aunts and uncles; and a few photos are like the one that inspired this painting. I have no idea who this woman was, but we are related. Her face speaks to me with a timeless quality that moves across the generations. I really love to paint “into the past,” and in this endeavor, I tried to imagine the colors of her universe.
